Leadership doesn’t happen at ground level; it requires lift. That’s the philosophy behind Leadership that Lifts, a high-impact collaboration between Sixth Wing, a human-centered leadership firm that builds trust, strengthens resilience, and drives performance, and AFN, the leading peer-to-peer executive network for dynamic leaders. Together, we’ve designed an experience that mirrors the flight experience: intentional preparation, transformational elevation, and a return to work with renewed clarity and purpose.
PRE-FLIGHT: Prepare for Takeoff
Your journey begins the moment you commit to being part of something different. With intention, energy, and the stunning backdrop of the Garden of the Gods, you’ll arrive ready to connect with yourself, with fellow leaders, and with new perspectives that elevate your thinking. Expect a day that challenges you to reflect, recharge, and rise.
IN-FLIGHT: Immersive Leadership at Altitude
Join us for a day of high-impact sessions crafted for real-time growth and real-world relevance. You’ll learn alongside founders, executives, and rising leaders in an environment where transformation isn’t just possible, it’s expected.
Your Flight Path
At Leadership That Lifts, we’ve designed the day as a shared journey. Think of it as a flight path we’ll travel together. Each session builds on the one before, with natural pauses to reflect, connect, enjoy lunch, and recharge.
Takeoff: Present with Confidence & Communication
Confident communication isn’t just a skill; it’s a mindset. In this session, you’ll learn how to prepare intentionally, ground yourself under stress, and align your nonverbal presence with your spoken words. We’ll explore how ego, clarity, and stress responses shape how you’re received, and give you tools to reduce filler words, sharpen delivery, and hold attention. Expect practical techniques, guided exercises, and feedback that ensures you walk away ready to command the room with credibility and confidence.
Facilitated by Kellie Mix and John Previtera
Cruising Altitude: Leading When There’s No Playbook
One of the greatest leadership missteps is approaching complexity with a “fix it fast” mindset. When adaptive challenges are treated like technical problems, the result is wasted resources, drained teams, and solutions that don’t last. This session introduces adaptive leadership as the antidote. Together, we’ll unpack core principles, apply them to real challenges you’re facing, and learn to distinguish technical fixes from adaptive strategies. You’ll leave with practical tools to navigate uncertainty, mobilize your teams, and design solutions that fit the complexity of the moment.
Facilitated by Tim Davisson and Corey Crisswell of Adeption

Refuel: The Edge of Resilience
Today’s high performers walk a tightrope between pressure and burnout. This session equips leaders to recognize where they are on that line and how to shift it. Using the GROW–PERFORM–SUSTAIN (GPS) model, you’ll assess your own balance, identify early warning signs in yourself and others, and reconnect with your core motivators. The focus is on sustainable performance and grounded energy. You’ll leave with resilience practices to support yourself and your teams for the long haul.

Landing: Mastering Negotiation & Persuasion
At Sixth Wing, we believe negotiation is both a tactical discipline and a human-centered craft—an equation of preparation, clarity, and connection. This session equips you with the tools to approach any negotiation with confidence, focusing on interest-based strategies that build trust, align outcomes, and strengthen relationships. We’ll also explore persuasion as its essential counterpart: not speaking in the language that convinces you, but learning what others need to hear. Through practical frameworks and real-time exercises, you’ll adapt your message to resonate with a wide range of personality types.
Facilitated by Laura Maasdam
Throughout the day, we’ll pause for breaks, reflection, and connection. Lunch is included, giving you space to recharge and engage with your peers before we continue our shared journey.
Networking Happy Hour
The day concludes with a networking happy hour, providing a chance to connect, reflect, and celebrate what has been set in motion.
POST-FLIGHT: Land with Purpose
This isn’t the end, it’s the beginning of what comes next. Whether you engage with Sixth Wing for team development, lean into new peer relationships, or apply what you’ve learned from the sessions, you’ll leave with tangible results. Momentum doesn’t dissipate. It compounds.
